Electronic Medical Records

From the CMIO: MedConnect Updates

Intelligent Medical Objects

On Tuesday, April 22, MedStar Health will launch a new program to seamlessly integrate with MedConnect, and allow each provider an easier look-up, and an easier way to enter a diagnosis or problem about a patient.

MedStar has purchased IMO (Intelligent Medical Objects) to assist you in finding the proper diagnoses and problems for any patient. Intelligent Medical Objects offers the most widely-used and clinician-preferred medical terminology solutions in the industry. It enables providers to easily capture clinical intent, by simultaneously mapping the appropriate billing and reference code to the electronic medical record.

The program uses IMO diagnosis and problems, and then automatically converts those to ICD-10 and ICD-9 for patient diagnosis, and SNOMED for patient problems. While using your own words, you can simultaneously utilize IMO clinical terms, which map to the most appropriate billing and reference codes for reimbursement, and to ongoing Meaningful Use requirements for EHR Systems.

Please begin using IMO on April 22 to more easily place your diagnoses and problems. Your process to enter a diagnosis and problem is the same as it is now. Any providers who have saved Diagnoses or Problems in “Favorites,” will have to resave these items after April 22.
